Natalie Wood

Natalie was born in Castlecrag, a northern suburb of Sydney, Australia, on January 3, 1963.   She is the younger of two children born to June and Stan Wood.   June and Stan were a major influence on Natalie's interest in country music.   Her brother, Shane, has developed his musical talent on the drums.   Surrounded by music from infancy, Natalie was destined to become a talented performer.

Natalie began her schooling at Georges Hall in Sydney and later completed her secondary education at the Casino High School. Casino is the capital of cattle country in the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales.

The Wood family made the move from Sydney to Casino in February 1976.   After leaving high school in 1979, Natalie began performing live and continued her education by taking up secretarial studies.

She acquired a position with the far north coast county council, based In Casino, in July 1980 and was still working in that position when her first album was released. Natalie is a vivacious redhead.   Her hobbies include swimming, squash and tennis (and music of course - she plays guitar and piano).   Natalie's first live performance was with her father's country show.   Acceptance by the audience was immediate and the duo worked the Northern Rivers and New England regions with the country showband.

Her first album "I Should Have Married You" was recorded in February 1983.   Natalie was awarded a Golden Guitar at the 1984 Australasian Country Music Awards presentation, for being "Best New Talent for 1983" with this album.   Her introduction to television in 1983 was on the "Lee Conway Country Show" produced in Brisbane, Queensland
